BC
Book Prizes
The BC Book Prizes, established in 1985,
celebrate the achievements of British Columbia writers and
publishers. The prizes are administered and awarded by members
of the (non-profit) West Coast Book Prize Society who represent
all facets of the publishing and writing community.
Annually, seven BC Book Prizes (for Fiction,
Poetry, Non-fiction, Regional, Children’s Literature,
Illustrated Children’s Literature and Booksellers’
Choice) as well as the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for
Literary Excellence are presented at an awards ceremony and
dinner in the spring. Typically, the event falls at the end
of BC Book and Magazine Week.
Since 2004, the BC Book Prizes have coordinated
an author tour, bringing a handful of shortlisted authors
to libraries, schools and bookstores to communities outside
of Vancouver.
Rebus Creative takes care of processing
hundreds of entries, coordinating the judging process as well
as handling fund raising, publicity, marketing and event coordination.
